Builder's Series FAQ
All cars must be mailed in for racing. Hand delivered cars will not be
eligible. Each race is a closed event with only the race crew present. Links will
be available on the home page. In addition, we run a live feed through the
WIRL kyte channel so racers can see real time results and webcam. After the
event, a complete race report is posted
along with high quality
video of each and every heat in the race. Cars are mailed back to the builders
after the race and usually arrive back within one week after the race.
The Open class will be for experimental cars. Cars that did not pass specs
for racing will also be put in the Open class. These cars are not required
to meet WIRL specs, although WIRL reserves the right to refuse to run a car that could be
potentially damaging to the track. Times and videos for the
open division will be posted along with the other classes.

Registration Form
F.A.Q.
I'm ready to race. What do I do now?
You can print a registration form here:
Builder's
Series Registration Form. Mail your car in with the completed form and registration fee.
How Much Does it cost to enter?
The entry fee is $12 for each car.
There is a $2 discount for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th car
There is a $3 discount for any car over 6.
This discount applies to the same builder during the same month.
What is the best way to mail my car?
This is the safest method we have found to mail cars: Find a sturdy box
approximately 12" x 5" x 5". Use large size (1/2" or
5/16"), bubble wrap. Roll the car in the bubble wrap
several times around, so it fits tightly in the box without moving around when
shaken. Caution: Bubble wrap that is even partially popped is ineffective for
protecting cars from shock. Close the box with tape and mail by either first class or priority mail.
All cars will be mailed back via Priority mail. WIRL reserves the right to
ship cars back in another box if the original box is damaged, oversized, or
excessively heavy. Cars should be shipped to: WIRL, PO Box 6694,
Marietta, GA 30065
How will my car be staged?
The staging will be performed by a totally impartial crew with no vested interest in the outcome of the race. The car will be aligned so it has a straight start down the
track, with wheels clear of the rails.
Sorry, but we cannot take any special instructions for staging.
What happens if I send my car to you and it does not meet race specs?
If a car fails inspection for any reason, we will do our best to modify the car to meet specs,
if we can do so without damaging it. If we cannot get your car to meet specs for
any reason, we will enter it in the open class if we feel it can run without
damaging the track.
Is there a limit of cars I can have in one event?
There is no limit as long as the racing fee is paid for each car.
What if my car arrives damaged?
If damage
is found (such as wheels off, etc) we will make our best attempt
to repair it so it will be able to run the race We will ship the car back to
you along with a damage report and our actions to repair it. If it is
unable to run in the race, you will receive an entry credit for a future race.
What if my car is damaged during a race?
If damage occurs during a race, we will attempt to repair it unless you give us
express instructions not to do so. If we are unable to repair the car, it
will be pulled from racing and listed with an added .1 second from the slowest
finishing time in each of its remaining heats. Note that is still possible for a
pulled car to place depending on how many heats were completed successfully and
how well the car finished in those heats.
What happens if my car does not pass inspection?
If your car does not meet specs for the class you entered it in, we will place
it in the most appropriate class as we see fit. We will try to keep your
car in a points class if at all possible. If the car does not pass specs for any
points class, we will run it in the non-points open class as long as we feel it
will not damage the track or other cars racing.
If my car cannot run, can I get a refund of my racing fee?
Due to the time and paperwork involved, we are sorry we cannot issue refunds, but you will still
be given credit for one
WIRL race entry to use at any later date.
Will my car be safe, and how can I be sure I'll get it back?
We have handled hundreds of cars and 99% are raced and shipped back safe and
sound. We take the utmost care of the cars while they are in our possession. We do not
take them out of the box until inspection time. We then inspect, photograph,
or race them. If loss or damage occurs due to our negligence, we will pay you a $25 restitution. *Note this does not
include damage resulting from normal racing wear and tear, such as detached wheels and parts, or
scratches.
What is the race schedule for 2010?
The dates are posted at the top of this page.
How many cars will I be racing against?
We must have 4 cars to run each race class. If there are fewer than 4 cars registered for a
class, we will either
use filler cars, or combine two classes. Filler cars are not eligible for points, but points awards for
registered cars are based on final placement
I live outside the US. Can I still participate?
You are welcome to participate, but you must cover the added cost of shipping the car back
to you. Please e-mail us for specifics.
What is the deadline for submitting a car?
We always check the post office box on race day, but to be safe please try to get your
car in 3 or 4 days before the race.
What is the best way to mail my car?
This is the safest method we have found to mail cars: Find a sturdy box
approximately 10" x 5" x 5". Roll the car in large (5/8" or
1/2") bubble wrap
several times around, so it fits tightly in the box without moving around when
shaken. Close the box with tape and mail by either first class or priority mail.
All cars will be sent back via Priority mail. We reserve the right to send a car
or cars back in a different box if the box is damaged, too large, or too heavy.
